Are you ready to be an Alaska Boatman in your own Zodiac type rigid hulled inflatable boat (RIB)? On a Zodiac Tour with us you can bring along your first mate and be the captain for a part of this three hour guided tour. Follow the guide in your fast boat through rainforest islands keeping an eye out for wildlife: Whales, seals, eagles, sea lions, bears.
The boat is a 14-foot zodiac fully equipped with console steering, seats four with a max speed of 25 knots. Motor into a beach, climb onto land and break for hot drink and a snack. Then, for your return, hand the helm over to another boatman. You will pass rocky islands where humpback whales and orca frequently surface and when in season, go deep into bays and inlets where salmon spawning streams attract black bears. This is an excursion for the spirited traveler with an opportunity to drive your own boat among the islands north of Ketchikan.
You may get cold. You may get wet. Wildlife sightings are not a guarantee, but you will see beautiful sights and be exhilarated by the speed of this zippy and fun 4x4 of the sea!

"This trip was amazing. Great people helping and guiding you along the way. There were eight of us and we were in two boats all to ourselves following an expert guide, Trevin. We got to drive our own boats and none of us had ever done this before. Along the way, we saw eagles and about 20 whales. Great fun."

"Come prepared for an adventure! Our confident guide, Greg, got us geared up in our wet suits, gave us gloves and took us down to our boats! There were only 4 of us, and each couple got to drive their own boat. We followed Greg around several islands where we saw so many eagles and seals! And then we started seeing the whales, three different groups during the tour! Saw 3 different whale tales as the whales dove! And the Zodiacs are so close to the water they felt so close! The dry suits are thick and keep you warm, but be sure to attach the Velcro flap to keep out the water! I recommend taking the wool gloves offered as your hands will get wet and the gloves will keep them warm."
